Food Friday - Fish Tacos!

Most people are either really going to like this post or they won't. Fish is one of those black or white foods. You either like it or you don't. As I like to think when it comes to fish, there really is no gray area.

So, this is probably one of the easiest recipes for fish tacos you can find. Not to mention, they taste wonderful, are full of flavor, are fairly cheap, and are VERY healthy. Here's what you'll need:

- "Mission" carb balance wheat tortillas (These are good. Very moist and fresh.)
- Fresh or frozen tilapia
- Red onion
- Cilantro
- Lemon
- Lime

Bake tilapia for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. While it's baking, I cut my red onion, cilantro, lemon and lime wedges. Once the fish is done and removed from the oven, I like to cut one piece of fish down the middle leaving me two decent slices of fish to make into two separate tacos. Place cooked fish on tortilla, add your onion, cilantro, and a little bit of lemon and lime to taste.

It really is that easy! I call it the no brainer, no planning needed, healthy filling meal. The best part about it is that you can have two, that's right, TWO fish tacos for only 290 calories! (The tortillas are 80 calories a each, and the fish is 100 calories a piece. Slice it in half and it's roughly 50 calories of fish per taco. Add your onion and cilantro and your up to only 290.)

This really is a good one to have on hand if you're a fish lover. It's quick, it's easy, and really does hit the spot!

  3. Looks so good! I can't tolerate flour tortillas but I bet these would be good with corn tortillas. I found fiber and flax ones the other day for only 45 calories each.

  6. I ALWAYS read about tilapia on bodybuilding blogs, but I've never tried it. I'm normally boring and just stick to salmon, tuna or king prawns. Still don't know about them in tacos though! :)

  7. Ummm...if you're having two tortillas at 80 cals each, plus 100 calories of fish, and onion, you are eating way more than 190 calories. Might want to check your math...

    1. Thank you. I meant 290 for 2 and 190 for one. I corrected it. Thank you.

  8. I enjoy reading your blog. I love tilapia! I was wondering if you thaw it before you bake it. I usually do, but if that step can be skipped, then hooray! :) I've heard of fish tacos and I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for the recipe.

  9. Hi Paige, Just found your blog last week! Thank you for taking the time as it is very encouraging. I wish I could hire Jacob too. :) But I am in Oregon. Keep hitting walls and the weight seems to be stuck. But each day I keep pushing forward. I am determined to be healthy and in great shape. My motivation and what has changed my course.....I care for my wonderful mother who is suffering with heart failure due to a life of being obese. I have 30 pounds to carve off, I have gotten rid of 10. More importantly each mile I run my heart recovers quicker, my lungs are able to fill up with air sooner. I am gaining my health from the inside out and I AM finding the joy in the journey. Thank you for the tips from your trainer. I have been on 1200 calories and although I am afraid to up it 1500 I think I might need to as for two weeks not a thing has happened. Again thanks!!!
